Usually mediations are held at a venue with one room for all to meet and a separate room or rooms where the mediator can meet with each party privately (caucus rooms), and that party and their lawyer, if they are represented, can meet privately talk and strategize. Sometimes, however, there are reasons why this is not possible, or practical.
After testing a number of different video conferencing platforms, I have discovered one which allows us to very closely mirror a face to face mediation dynamic. It allows for main and caucus rooms, sharing of documents and whiteboard for collaboration, as well as other features that help us to effectively conduct mediations.
